Just Magnolia # 2 - Pink and Green

Evening peeps!

Just finished watching The Apprentice, I do love that programme! I think Alan Sugar has the driest sense of humour I've ever heard, lol!

Here is my card for this week's Just Magnolia Challenge, where the brief is to use pink and green on your cards. A yummy colour combo methinks and surprisingly not one that we've had yet on Colour Create! The girls have come up with some stunning creations for us again this week and there's another fabulous prize, not to mention the chance to be guest designer for May!

I'm not going to say a great deal about my card because I don't like it! There, that was to the point, wasn't it, lol?! I'm not even sure why I don't like it really, I guess I just don't feel as if it's me. Anyway, I have no time to make another now and don't want to miss out on entering it this week, so I'm stuck with it.

One thing I do like is the way the card close-up photographed in the sunshine - the butterfly has a wee little shadow which looks kind of cute......... small things heh?

Materials:
Image - Magnolia
Sentiment - Studio G
Papers - Scraps from my stash
Colouring - Polychromatic Pencils
Die - Nestie Butterfly
Embellishments - Tiny Flowers and Clear Dew Drops from my stash
Accents - Pink Gel Pen

A few peeps mentioned the flower on my previous card (the Hanglar one) so I thought I'd show you the set of dies it came from. I called it a Nestie but it's actually from the Wizard Shapeabilities range. Hope this helps and sorry if I'm making you spend more cash, but you lot do that to me all the time, lol!

Eek! I haven't managed to get round to anyone's blog today and I'm very sorry for that! Hope you'll forgive me if I hit the sack now and catch up with you all tomorrow ;o)

Ismaki Challenge - A Sketch and the Colour Purple

Evening folks!

I haven't had the opportunity to join in with the Ismaki Challenge for ages, so after tea tonight I settled down to make a card. There's a fab sketch to follow and an extra option to use purple. As hard as it is to part with the scrummy papers, I used my Basic Grey Wisteria pad again. I think this design is my favourite of the collection - those blooms are so gorgeous!

I also got to use my new Nestie leaves and flowers die to create the layered floral embellishment. I think I'll be using this lots more as I love the way the flower looks. Lucky old me was able to play with another scrummy Hanglar image thanks to my super duper blogging buddy Judy. They are just such gorgeous images and I so wish we could buy the stamps in the UK........ who knows, one day?

Materials:
Image - Hanglar
Sentiment - Studio G
Papers - Basic Grey Wisteria
Colouring - Copics
Die - Nestie Flower and Leaves Layers
Embossing - Cuttlebug Divine Swirls
Punch - Martha Stewart Doily Border
Embellishments - Ribbon, Pearls and Sentiment Sticker from my stash
Accents - White Gel Pen for highlighting, Distress Inks for edging

I've really enjoyed making my card tonight and even managed to catch the light to take my piccie in the garden. Thanks so much for stopping by to visit my blog, I really appreciate it ;o)

I hope to be back tomorrow with my card for the Just Magnolia Challenge.

Colour Create Thirteen - Orange, Green and Brown....

My lovely buddy Jo chose this week's gorgeous colours and the theme too! Make a male card no less!! I think we all groaned a bit as usual when faced with this brief, as we all seem to dread making cards for the men in our lives (sorry chaps)! However, I think we all enjoyed ourselves and if you take a look at the cards created by my DT friends you'll be impressed I'm sure.

I made my card for my hubster's 40th birthday, only I added the numbers afterwards. As you may have previously read, I bought him an aquarium for his big day, so I thought something with a fishy theme would be good. Straight away I knew that fishing Ian from TGF would be perfect and I even found a Sizzix die to tie in..... that's the little fish shapes you can see in the piccie.

Materials:
Image - The Greetings Farm
Sentiment - The Greetings Farm
Papers - Basic Grey Archaic
Colouring - Copics
Die - Sizzix Sizzlit
Embellishments - Brads, Eyelets and String from my stash

Sorry this is a short post today. I'm feeling very fragile after a heavy night out!! I'm blog hopping in short doses so I hope to get round to you all by the end of the day ;o)

Basic Grey # 32 - Chris's Sketch

Good morning everyone and welcome to the weekend!

We have a beautiful sketch this week at Basic Grey created by the wonderful Chris. I had great fun working with this one and by the look of the DT cards I think everyone else did too. What a wonderful collection of cards for you to feast your eyes upon.

I chose a sweet Penny Black image for my card which I received in a birthday RAK from the very same Chris. I am continuing to practice with my Copics and was pleased with the shading on the flowerpot, but I know I still have some way to go.

I've used Lime Rickey papers this week. Have you seen them yet? You sure need your sunglasses for this collection, lol! Zingy is a word that springs to mind!!

We're all going to choose the first tropical fish today for Chris's new aquarium (I bought it for his fortieth last weekend). I'm thinking a Dory or Nemo would look cool. When the aquarium is filled with fishies I'll take some piccies and upload them so you can take a peek. Might even have a naming competition, lol!

Materials:
Image - Penny Black
Sentiment - Studio G
Ladybird - Magnolia
Papers - Basic Grey Lime Rickey
Colouring - Copics
Flowers - Prima
Die - Sizzix Leaves
Embellishments - Brads and Raffia Ribbon from my stash
Accents - White Gel Pen for faux stitching

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!

Copic Colour Challenge # 10

Evening peeps!

Hope you've had a nice day and made the most of the wonderful sunshine! I've been at work today but managed to finish this card when I got home. It's for this week's Copic Colour Challenge where the brief is to use these colours:

I coloured one of the gorgeous Hanglar images recently sent to me by my blogging buddy Judy. I had a scout through my 12 x 12 papers and found this gorgeous print, it's really fresh and bright and it ties in perfectly with the colours in the challenge. Not much more to say about this one really - I didn't go OTT with the embellies because the paper is fairly busy. Oh, one other thing, hopefully you can pick up on the glossy accents I added to the shoes, watering can and hair ribbon, if not feel free to zoom.

I was planning to make a start on another card tonight and have chosen the papers and image, but as I sit here typing I've realised I'm cream crackered so I think I'll make a brew and go up for a nice soak in the bath. My card can wait until tomorrow night now!

Materials:
Image - Hanglar
Sentiment - Computer Generated
Flourish Stamp - Clear Choice
Papers - From Stash
Colouring - Copics
Punch - Leone Em Medium Retro Flower
Embellishments - Brads from my stash
Accents - Glossy Accents

Just Magnolia # 1 - Donalda's Sketch

I'm finally managing to upload the card I made for the first Just Magnolia Challenge. I finished this on Sunday night ready to give to my friend and work colleague on Monday, but I've had no time to sit at the pc and put it on my blog. I certainly think this challenge is going to be a biggie - have you seen how many peeps have entered so far!! Not surprising really with such a talented DT and of course a mega prize to celebrate the launch!

I really enjoyed creating my entry as I got to use a Magnolia image I've never played with before and also my yummy new Wisteria papers from Basic Grey. Donalda's sketch was wonderful to work with and I'm sure I'll be using that layout again. Do hop over to see this new challenge if you haven't done so already, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun!!

Papers - Basic Grey Wisteria

Colour Create # 12 - Black, White and Pink.....

Evening peeps!

Firstly, I just want to apologise for not visiting many of your blogs this weekend. As some of you already know the hubster turned 40 yesterday and so we have had meals and parties on the go! I'm hoping to play catch up tomorrow.

I'm going to make this a very quick post tonight as I have to get the kids sorted and ready for school tomorrow. This is the card I made for Colour Create and I really enjoyed working with the colours. If you hop over there now you will find some amazing cards on display from my fellow DT members and Chris has offered a fab digi prize this week too!

I'll be back to update my post with details of materials, etc tomorrow.

Toodles for now ;o) xxx

Basic Grey # 30 - Paper Piecing

Welcome to the Basic Grey Challenge on this beautiful, sunny, Spring morning. YAY, I love this week's theme of Paper Piecing as it's one of my fave techniques. The girls have all come up with some incredible cards which really show off the beauty of Basic Grey papers, so do hop over and take a peek. There is also a fab prize on offer this week, in fact I'd quite like to win it myself but unfortunately DT members aren't allowed :o( Oh well, someone will be lucky, but you've got to be in it to win it!!

I didn't start out with the intention of creating something along the 50's kitsch theme but I think that's how my card turned out! The Rubber Romance image reminds me somehow of a pop art picture, do you know what I mean? Anyway, I got to use my ric rac ribbon stamp which always seems to add a nice effect. I paper pierced the present and the girl's skirt with Cupcake papers - these really are bright and fun.

Sentiment - Studio G
Papers - Basic Grey Cupcake
Embossing - Cuttlebug Birthday Folder
Colouring - Copics

Embellishments - Brads and Gems from my stash

Well I have a busy day ahead - hubster is the big 4 0 today! He's working until mid afternoon so me and the kids are decorating the house and fetching his pressies from his mum's house, where they've been hidden away. Tonight we're going out for a curry and then tomorrow we're having a family party. He doesn't like surprises so he knows about the get together, but his pressie is a big surprise.

Catch you all later ;o)

Copics Colour Challenge # 9

Yay! Now that I have my Copic pens I can play in another challenge, Copics Colour. This week we've been asked to use R59 Cardinal, YR07 Cadmium Orange and G99 Olive. A while back I bought a couple of Flower Fairies stamp sets and so decided to ink up this little beauty from the Zinnia range. As well as loving the pretty fairies, I thought all the floral accessories you get in the set would be really useful too!

I thought I'd create a floral border as this card is all about flowers, so I used a set of See D's Morsels (these create a similar effect to the Tapestry Stamps I've used before). I acually think these colours work really well together and will be using the combo again.

Materials:
Image - Crafters Companion
Sentiment - Dovecraft
Stamped Flowers - Crafters Companion
Border - See D's Morsels
Colouring - Copics

I have received 2 awards from Cheryl at Garden of Handmade Love and I'm truly grateful for these, thank you so much.

Also, the lovely Ruth at A Passion for Cards has kindly passed this award on to me. Thank you for thinking of me, it's a lovely gesture and one that I really appreciate.

I'm off to make a start on my card for Just Magnolia now. This is their first week and there is a fab skecth to follow plus the most amazing prize...... you best check it out, I'm sure you'll be mega impressed!!

Magnolia Down Under # 7 - Sepia

Hellooooooo peeps!

What a busy bee I am this week - time off work equals loads of crafting! YAY! The kids both have friends round and they're all busy baking in the kitchen as I type. Now I know I'm going to pay for my free time later when I see the mess they've left behind, but the bonus is that I've made some cards and I get to eat Victoria sponge after tea. So it's a fair trade I think, hee hee!

I had so much fun joining in with the MDU challange last week that I just had to join in again. This week's theme is Sepia and I think I followed it okay although I didn't go for the vintage look sometimes associated with these colours. I used another adorable Tilda from the Spring set and was sitting back feeling pleased with my creation when I suddenly realised I had her levitating again, lol! I have a habit of doing this - note to self...... when Tilda is in a sitting position you need to position her onto something! DOH! So out came my trusty Sizzix leaf die.... again, and I created a branch of sorts for her to perch on. That was a close one!!

Embellishments - Roses and Buttons from my stash

I will be back later to check out what you've all been up to. Have a lovely evening and don't forget The Apprentice is on later ;o)

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge - Handmade

Morning everyone!

A couple of firsts for me today....... first time I have used a download from Charmed Cards & Gifts and first time I have entered the Dottie's World Sunday Challenge. I have to say I'm totally in love with the Holly and Maddison images and have been very inspired by the cards I've seen on Tara's and Juliet's blogs recently.

This week's challenge is right up my street.... make a card without any premade design papers or embellishments - now that's what I call a challenge and it really gets the old creatice juices flowing! So to create my background I embossed and distressed some green card and then also created some leaf interest with a sponge leaf stamp which I bought for just 99p from the kids' section in Hobbycraft! I die cut a couple of extra leaves and then created my flowers by stamping and colouring in a beautiful Kars flower stamp which I thought looked quite tropical.

I think it will be hard to keep me away from this challenge now when I have the time.... I can't wait to use more of these fab, funky images!!

I'm making the most of this week and making as many cards as I can. I have a week off work and the hubster is back at work now so I have some crafty time on my hands. Of course the kids are about but they're brilliant and just get on with stuff. Tomorrow they are both having friends round so I shall be crafting all day long - BLISS!

We will be putting the finishing touches to hubster pressie this week as he is 40 on Saturday! We've secretly bought him an aquarium as he has always wanted to keep fish. I've always said no in the past as I'm not that keen to be honest, but then I thought it's all about getting something special for him to celebrate this special birthday so what the heck!! Talking of birthdays has just reminded me that I haven't made his card yet. My two least favourite things; male theme and adding an age. Wish me luck!!!

A Win, a Toot and a Card..........

WOOHOO! Firstly I just wanted to say a huge 'thank you' to Vicki as I have won her gorgeous blog candy! I feel really lucky and it's thanks to her lovely girls that my name was picked out ;o) I can't wait to play with my new goodies - I really am so excited!

Secondly, a little hoot..... I made the top three in last week's Magnolia Down Under Challenge! What a privilege this is and I will certainly be back for more challenges as they are such fun and the cards made by the Design Team are wonderful! Just to let you know they are looking for a guest designer for May, so hop over and take a look at this week's 'Sepia' challenge if you'd like to be considered.

Thirdly, I have a card for you! Actually I've been naughty as I should have posted this one yesterday. I get so carried away with posting the actual challenge I forget to post my entry, lol! Plus we did go for a five mile walk yesterday afternoon, then came home to a lovely roast dinner and slumped in front of the TV - NICE!! I also went to church in the morning and the sun totally streamed in through the stain-glassed windows. It was the most amazing thing and made me feel totally at one with God and the world!

So, the theme at Colour Create is chocolate, coffee and cream, chosen by our lovely Tab this week. I did have to hold out my wrist for a little slap as a tiny bit of Aqua found it's way onto my card too, but I'm hoping I'll soon be forgiven, lol!

I decided to paper piece my image and you may need to zoom in to pick this up clearly. On this ocassion I kept my card fairly simple although I have to tell you I was itching to add more as usual! I also decoupaged Mr Ellie's ears as they were crying out to be made a bit more floppy! I hope you have chance to join in with us again this week and create something along the choccie theme.

Basic Grey Challenge # 30 - Chocolate Soft Centres

Here we are at Challenge 30 over at Basic Grey already and what a pleasure it was to follow the brief for this one....... chocolate soft centres! I think the Design Team girlies are big fans of mint, strawberry and orange centres don't you?

Here's this week's brief then.....

As its Easter on Sunday we thought we would have a challenge inspired by all those lovely chocolate treats you will be scoffing into hehe, so this week we would like you to take inspiration from your favourite Chocolates :), so say your favourite chocolate is Mint chocolate, well you could then base the colours of your card on this so your card would be Brown and Green :), sounds scrumptious doesn't it, I cant wait to see you chocolate inspired creations this week, but please don't forget to use at least one item from BasicGrey on your creation.

You will see that the girls have produced the most scrummy and mouth watering creations this week, perfect as we're all munching away on our Easter eggs! My fave choccie centre is definitely strawberry cream and so my card has ended up pink and brown, but I wanted to develop the chocolate theme even further so I used one of the lovely Magnolia cake images sent to me by the gorgeous Tara G. Now when I ordered Angel Anya I did expect to probably only use her for Christmas cards but then when I thought up the sentiment for this one I knew she could come out to play. I'm thinking along the lines that you're very saintly and angelic if you refuse choccie at this time of year......... ooooooh, are some of those halos slipping as you read this, lol!!

Now I'm sorry to make this a bit of a long post but I must just mention that this is the first card I've made using my new Copics. Hmmmmmm, where do I start?! More tricky to use than I thought they would be but I'm sure practice will see improvements. Part of the problem was the card I'm using because it did cause the colours to bleed, but I think I need tonnes more practice to get the shading right too. Oh well, we all have to start somewhere! I spent a whole day just staring at the pen boxes in awe to be honest - I think they were scaring me a bit before I started! Anyway, I know of lots of great tutorials to help me out so watch this space...... I might just get better, lol!

Sentiment - Computer Generated
Cake Stamp - Magnolia
Punch - Martha Stewart Doily Border
Papers - Basic Grey Bittersweet

Magnolia Down Under # 6 - A Baby is Born

I like to try supporting new challenges whenever I can and so it was nice to join in with this week's Magnolia Down Under Challenge which is now in its sixth week.

The theme this week is to make a baby card. I managed to make a baby girl card for this week's Colour Create Challenge so this time I thought a baby boy card would be useful. Isn't it funny how you can sometimes have an image in your stash which seems to have been there forever! Vicky sent me this Magnolia image way back when I'd just joined the DoCrafts forum and, because your image stash starts to grow very quickly as you make crafting friends, this one had been put to one side. The nice thing is that eventually you find the perfect use for everything and I thought this image was perfect to use for a baby boy card, so thanks Vicky!!

I'll be back tomorrow then with my Basic Grey Design Team card. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to stop by and leave a comment. It's so lovely to hear what you think of my creations and you can be sure I'll be visiting you right back!!

Creative Inspirations # 3 - Scallops

Good morning folks!

Scallops to you! No, I'm not being rude.......... I'm just telling you about the theme for Week Three over at Creative Inspirations, lol! Bet you want to join us now don't you? Especially all those of you who have scalloped cards, doily punches and Nesties. The girls have come up with some beautiful creations for our third week and I hope you can hop over for a peek.

I used the white scalloped card for this project and doodled my own silhouette flowers onto the design paper. I couldn't resist taking a piccie of the card in amongst my Camelia bush as the blooms are starting to fade a bit now and it'll soon be back to just green again.

Stamp with Fun # 1 - A Sketch and some Candy!

Evening folks!

I hope you like my new look blog - I thought I'd give it a mini makeover today and choose something spring-like.

When I was blog hopping this morning I came across a brand new challenge called Stamp with Fun and when I saw the gorgeous sketch created by Saphira for the first week I knew I would have to play along. Then when I saw the Magnolia candy up for grabs that made things even more certain, lol! I like to try and support new challenges when they are starting off anyway and of course to spread the word.

This is the third of the Miss Anya stamps I've had the pleasure to ink up and I think this one is the best to paper piece. I used my yummy Marakesh papers by Basic Grey and whilst having a rummage through all my stamps I found this very sweet little cat by Auds Designs.

This really was a fun sketch to work with so hop over and see what you can do with it. I probably won't manage to get any cards done for the next couple of days now because I'm doing full days at work, but I shall definitely be hopping on and off the computer to do some blog hopping so I'll see you there!

Colour Create # 10 - Duck Egg Blue and Rose

Good afternoon peeps!

OMG, I got so carried away with having a spring clean in the kids' rooms today that I forgot to post my card for Colour Create! Anyway, here it is now and you'll see that I inked up one of the gorgeous Messy Rabbits for this card. I have a friend at work who is shortly leaving to have her first baby and so I thought I'd have a card at the ready....... just need to put together one for a baby boy now!

I hope you'll be able to join us for this week's challenge as Judy has picked a scrummy colour combo and I'm sure you'll get all the inspiration you need from the wonderful DT cards. It's been nice taking a back seat and letting the other girlies pick the colours each week and at least I can't get the blame if folks don't like the choices, lol! That doesn't mean I don't go to bed on regular ocassions dreaming up new colours and options though - I am a bit of a dreamer it has to be said!

Anyway, I'm taking my little man over to the park now whilst it's still nice so I'll leave you with my card and stop waffling on!!

Basic Grey Challenge # 29

Another Basic Grey Challenge greets us this morning and it's perfectly timed for the Easter holidays! The theme is Easter/Spring and the Design Team have come up with some stunning creations, they really are so pretty! I think with the weather we've been having this week and all the pink blossom and daffodils everywhere it makes you really happy to be alive! I really hope you'll get the chance to join in with this week's challenge.

For my card I've taken a beautiful quote which I couldn't wait to use and teamed it with Basic Grey Offbeat papers. I got a chance to use the lovely green felt border ribbon too which I bought a couple of weeks ago, although unfortunately I'm not sure who makes it! I really love these colours and the card was lots of fun to make ;o)

Simon Says Challenge # 1 - Green and Yellow

So here I am going nude again so to speak, lol! What I mean is I've made another card leaving quite a bit of white showing and I'm pleased with how it turned out! The weirdest things inspire you sometimes, don't they? Every afternoon, when I've picked up the kids from school, I stop at some lights and stare into the window of a lovely little delicatessan shop. As well as a range of food and drinks, they also sell things for the home and in the window I've seen a beautiful metal heart with leaves wound around it. So my mind's been wondering as it does and the idea for the leafy heart on my card was born yesterday! I think you could do something similar with lots of other shapes too, so I might rework this idea in the future.

I made my card for the brand new Simon Says Challenge run by Simon Says Stamp - an online company in The States which I think many of you will be familiar with. The brief this week is to make a card using green and yellow, which is a winning combination for Spring in my book. I hope you can visit the challenge and you're sure to see some wonderful creations by the Design Team. All they ask is that you use a stamp from one of the ranges they sell. Now I know they sell Magnolias but I realised after I made my card that they probably don't stock this Tilda because she's from the Stampclub set. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be okay as she still belongs to Magnolia! I must add that I pinched an idea from the lovely Judy after seeing her card for Colour Create this week - adding the liquid pearl dots to Tilda's dress!

Materials:
Image - Magnolia (+ butterflies)
Sentiment - Computer generated
Floral Stamp - Daisy & Dandelion Set
Dies - Spellbinders Nestie Hearts, Sizzix Leaves
Punch - Woodware Flower
Colouring - ProMarkers
Accents - Stickles Glitter Glue, Liquid Pearls, White Gel Pen and Black Fineliner

One other thing before I go, I thought I'd just share my news with you....... I've been picked to join the Design Team over at Creative Inspirations! Woohoo, I'm so delighted to be joining such a talented bunch of girls and can't wait to get started on my first card. Hopefully you'll be able to join in and make this challenge successful!
