A Spoon Full of Sugar # 67 - Distressing

Good morning folks!

This is a mega quick post this morning as I'm getting ready to go off to a friend's party with the kids. I just wanted to show you a card I made for a friend's little boy, along with matching gift wrap and tag. I've used one of the Monster stamps from Squiggle Stamps - there are three in the range and they're very funky....... great for those little boy cards we all have to make from time to time (well at least they're easier than the ones we make for the men)! Apologies for the quality of this photo but I took it in a rush last week before giving the pressie and card to the little boy.

I simply took a large sheet of green paper for the wrap and stamped the image randomly in blue ink. Both the image on the tag and the images on the card have been paper pieced in Basic Grey Offbeat and Cupcake papers and I added some Dymo sentiments and punched stars for embellies. The brads and ricrac ribbon strip are from my stash. As I've distressed the edges of my papers I can enter the card into this week's A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge which funnily enough is distressing.

Sorry to rush off but I'm always late for everything so I'm aiming to be good for once this morning!!

Happy Sunday to all!

I'll be back in the morning to announce the winner of my Bank Holiday candy!!

Basic Grey # 3 - Inspiration Challenge

Good morning and happy weekend!

Here is my card for this week's Basic Grey Challenge where there is a lovely picture to give you lots of inspiration. Here's the brief:

"This weeks challenge is another new one for us, this one is called our Inspiration Challenge, and the way that this one works is that we will show you a photo and we would like you to take Inspiration from it, so it can be anything from patterns, shapes, colours even textures, let your imagination run wild and have fun interpreting the photo".

What a stunning photo Martine has chosen for us to use. It reminds me of when you've just changed your bedding and you can catch the smell of fresh linen floating through the air.

Okay I admit it, my card is a bit quirky this week but I do like the way it turned out I think. I decided to curve my image on the card so that it became very 3D and hopefully you can pick that up from this close up piccie. My reason?..... I just imagined those net curtains blowing in the breeze and I think that also translates in the image itself as Mo's gorgeous Prairie Girl has that type of dress on. For the pattern that might be on the nets I paper pieced parts of it and then embossed and sanded it for lots of texture. It was a bit fiddly to cut out and match up but I got there in the end.

My papers are from Basic Grey's Stella Ruby range and I've coloured my image with Copics. The ribbon is one I picked up earlier this year from HobbyCraft and the sentiment is by Studio G. I punched out some little Hydrangeas with my MS punch and added some Liquid Pearls to their centres.

I really hope you can join in with the challenge as you have a whole fortnight now. Be sure to hop over and check out the stunning work of my fellow teamies - everyone has interpreted the picture so differently!

Have a great weekend, hugs Tara xx

Anyone For Anya # 2 - A Sketch

Evening peeps!

Well with the introduction of another great challenge I couldn't resist having a go at this week's Anyone For Anya sketch. It really is a gorgeous layout and there's so much inspiration from the team.

I used this sweet wintery Miss Anya to create my very first Christmas card for this year! I coloured her with Polys and Koh pencils and added some Stickles to the white bits. I picked up the scrummy paper a few weeks back but I'm not sure who it's made by. I added some raffia ribbon sent to me by the lovely Carole and die cut some Sizzix snowflakes using some paper scraps. The green flowers are Prima and the brads and red ribbon are from my stash.

Now I have some very exciting news to tell you about a new range of stamps and a Design Team call to coincide with the launch. If you haven't already seen the amazing cards made by the lovely and very talented Janny using the new stamps, hop across to her blog now for a taster. The stamps will be available very shortly here at Michelle's Scrapbooking and I love every single one of these gorgeous designs. Here's some information about the call:

We specialize in whimsical designs, as well as background and accessory stamps that work well with other stamp lines. Hop over to the new blog here and you can read the rest of the information. I have made this card above plus my last two cards in order to enter the call and I have to say I would be over the moon if chosen to work with these fantastic images. Good luck if you decide to enter too, you haven't got long!!

Well I'm off to get some tea now as I have a very hungry family looking at me with those pleading eyes, lol!

Have a fantabulous weekend and I'll catch up with you all a bit later. Just a reminder before I go that my candy finishes on Sunday and there's still plenty of time to enter.

Stamp Something Challenge - Animals......

Good morning folks!

WOW! Autumn has definitely arrived here in the UK, we have really strong winds and lots of rain clouds lurking! I know I'm a bit strange but I love days like this! I do love the sun but when it's wet and dreary I feel cosy and safe at home. Autumn is my fave season and I love to see the leaves change colour and all the changing plant life. I think it's my fave time for making cards too as the colours are so rich and vibrant. My card has an Autumnal theme that's for sure and I even fetched some leaves in from the garden to add to the effect in my photo. They were very wet and soggy so do you know what I did? I put them in the tumble drier for a few minutes, rofl!! The things we do heh?

I'm entering my card into this weeks Stamp Something Challenge where the theme is Animals and I've used one of Mo's fantastic creations available to buy here at Digital Pencil Too. Do you like my handmade pumpkin? I'm really pleased with how it turned out but I can't take the credit for the initial idea because I saw it here at Scrap Bitz, wowzers what a talented lady Suzanne is, you MUST visit!!! She used Nestie Ovals to create her pumpkin but I don't have the plain ones so I made my own template by drawing an oval in Word and printing it onto some card. The papers are from Basic Grey's Mellow range and the sentiment has been created using one of the See D's Alphabet stamp sets. I've layered and glazed the bat mask on my image which has thankfully come out well on the piccie. Do you know after I made this card, every time I looked at it those little eyes were following me around the room....... SPOOKY!

This card is the second of three that I'm making in response to a design team call for a new range of stamps at The Pixie Cottage and I will be giving you further details tomorrow.

I have a couple of awards to add to this post but I will put them on later as I'm at work and need to crack on.......... catch you later folks and thanks so much for stopping by today ;o)

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge # 22 - Scallop Mania!

Morning peeps!

Well it feels decidedly Autumnal this morning as the kids make their way to school. I'm off to work in a minute so I've just popped on to upload this card quickly before I leave.

This is my first time entering the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge and I'm using my new Magnolia Calibri bird, just the sweetest thing I've ever seen and fab to colour! As you can see I really went to town on this little winged wonder....... bit of layering, then out came the Stickles and sticky pearls! This is one of those cards where what you had in your mind translates to what appeared on the card, YAY, love it when that happens!! I treated myself to a new Kay&Co Madeline paper pad and have used some of the papers for this card, including the sentiment. I've been itching to use a paper doily on my card (I am also giving some away in my candy) and so that counts for the scallops, along with the scalloped edges I created with a MS border punch.

I saw a fab flower tutorial on Rach's blog at the weekend (thank you hun) and I just had to give it a go! I used a few less layers but I'm really pleased with how these turned out and will definitely be making them again. The leaves and butterflies are from Woodware punches and the larger pink pearls are from my stash. To finish I lightly added some faux stitching and distressed the edges of my papers with Distress Inks.

This card is the first of three that I'm making in response to a design team call for a new range of stamps at The Pixie Cottage and I will be giving you further details in a couple of days.

Right then, best show my face at the office. Have a great day and I look forward to visiting you all later on.

TTFN and TFL, hugs Tara xx

Welcome to the official launch of Squiggle Stamps!

How are you all on this beautiful sunny morn, well I hope?!

I'm very excited today as it's the official launch of the Squiggle Stamps blog! There is the yummiest candy ever and the DT have come up with the most amazing cards and projects to wet your appetite, wow! Hop over and take a look at the talent and the wonderful designs on offer. There is also a sneaky peek at the September releases and they are just delightful! You'll be seeing lots of examples from me that's for sure - these stamps are a dream to work with and have so many possibilities! Make sure you become a follower of the blog so that you don't miss out on what's happening, I think things will be very busy on there from now on!!

You can check out the candy on my sidebar or this link will take you directly there. Scrummy or what? I don't suppose I can enter seeing as I'm on the team, sniff, I really had my eye on that gorgeous Kay&Co paper, lol!

For my card I've masked two of the Daisy stamps; Daisy Sitting Pretty and Daisy With Flowers available here and coloured both with my Copics. The papers are October Afternoon and the sentiment is a Melissa Frances rub-on. I've created my own flowers using a circle Nestie which I then fringed, a Prima flower and then a button die cut. I stamped and added some pretty little leaves, I do like playing around like this. You might also like to see one of the other designs I've already used, Daisy With Balloon, which is here.

I'm entering this card into the Friday Sketchers Challenge as I've followed an amazing sketch created by the very talented Claudia. I've moved my embellies around a bit because they didn't fit into the bottom right corner, but other than that it's a pretty good match I think.

I would also like to tell you all about a new challenge blog starting next month called Crafty Calendar Challenge. My daughter Georgia has created this challenge and is running it completely by herself with no input from me, quite an achievement for a 13 year old! I might be persuaded to fill a guest spot if she asks me but that'll be it. Anyway, Georgia is looking for DT members and has put out a call which ends on September 15th........ more details can be found here. The challenge will run once a month and the theme will have some reflection on that particular month. I'm very proud of her and would love it if you could spread the word about the challenge and the DT call...... thank you ;o)

Finally, as if things couldn't get any better today, guess what just landed on my doormat........ yep, you guessed it, my Magnolia Fall Kit, YAY!!!! Here sits one very happy bunny!!

Thanks for bearing with me to the end of this very long post! Have a fab, creative day and don't forget to enter my candy as well if you get a minute ;o)

Dt card for A Passion for Stamps .........

Good morning everyone!

Hope you are all having a fab weekend....... the weather isn't that great is it, but then we should be used to that by now!! I'm excited to show you another DT card today that I've made for Ruth at A Passion For Stamps. I think this little floral stamp is just divine and really makes a statement! I was so impressed with the quality of the stamps when I received my DT pack - they are really thick and deeply etched so they stamp beautifully. I think it's well worth buying a floral stamp for your collection as it gives you so many options. In this case I've made a thank you card but you could also make a beautiful sympathy card which we all sadly need from time to time.

I used Basic Grey papers for my card and cut my image shape with the Nestie Label #2. The zigzag border was created using a MS border punch and the little flowers are from the MS Hydrangea punch. The sentiment is a Melissa Frances rub-on and the little black gems are from my stash.

Here's a close up of the beautiful flower........

I'm off now for a blog hop so have a great day and don't work too hard.......

Stamp With Fun # 21 - At The Sea

Evening peeps!

I'm here to tell you my other bit of good news for the week....... I've been asked by my lovely friend Ruth to design using her gorgeous new stamps which are available at A Passion for Stamps. This is Ruth's first rubba adventure and I was blown away when she asked me to come up with some samples. The difficulty is what to start with as the designs are just so scrummy and I've so many ideas buzzing around in my head, but I decided to make my first card with Jenny at the Beach because it fits with the current season. When I saw this amazing creation by my friend Dena I just knew I had to attempt a stair fold card to create the beach theme, thank you so much for the inspiration Dena! I'm entering my card into this week's Stamp With Fun Challenge where the theme is 'At The Sea'! Everything on the card was made with paper and card scraps really, apart from the beach hut..... the blue stripey paper is a Pink Petticoat download.

I hope you will get the chance to hop over to A Passion for Stamps and take a look at all the new designs....... bet you'll be spoilt for choice, hee hee!

Well I apologise for a lack of blog hopping over the last day or so and I probably won't get to you all tonight. It's my wedding anniversary you see and also probably the busiest week of the academic year at the college where I work so I've been putting in all the hours I can! The only reason I'm allowed on here tonight is because I'm going to show you the cards and flowers I've had - plus my daughter Georgia has cooked a three course meal for us and I promised to show you the prawn cocktail. After I've finished typing this it's back to the hubster for wine and chocs....... what more could a girl want? Only downside is I've got to be up early for work in the morning so I'll have to go easy on the wine ;o(

Here is a piccie of my flowers and cards...... Georgia gave us the one on the left, I made the one next to it and have shown it on my blog previously, the next one along was made by Georgia for Chris to give to me and finally there is a card from his parents.

And here is the famous prawn cocktail and it was yummy! Georgia made a homemade pie for main course and followed that with homemade shortbread biscuits with ice cream...... I can barely move, lol!!!

Right I'm off back to the hubster then before I get in trouble! Thanks for bearing with me - I know it means a lot to Georgia that I'm showing you some of her hard work. I hope to catch up with you all very soon ;o)

'Thank You' to a friend.........

Afternoon lovely blogging friends!

I know it's safe to show you this card now........ it's been on its way to the lovely Carole by way of a thank you for the candy she sent me and I've heard it's landed on her doormat this morning! I used almost everything she sent me to make the card - such yummy goodies and I've always wanted to own this particular stamp! The papers are MME and the flowers look very Prima-ish to me. I hope you like the border I created at the sides...... I ordered some more Bazzill Just The Edge strips recently in white, that way I can colour them to match in.

This is a very short post I'm afraid as I'm back at work today and should be pulling my weight, lol........ the students will be in for their results tomorrow and enrolling for the new academic year, groan!

I have been asked to design for another stamp company and will be back with more details and my first card tomorrow, can't wait ;o)

Roses On Paper # 19 - Punches.....

Good morning folks!

The sun is shining, my washing is out on the line, I have a cuppa by my side and all is good with the world today ;o)

Here is a card I'm entering into the Roses on Paper challenge as it fits in with the theme of using punches on your card. I'm hoping it may have arrived in Germany today at the new home of my lovely blogging buddy Heather, as I've sent her some images to tide her over until her missing Magnolia Summer kit arrives. The punches I've used are the little butterflies and the stamens in the centre of the flowers. I've also created some punched borders with a MS punch. I've coloured a Pixie download with Poly pencils and added lots of Stickles to the wings and flower which you can hopefully pick up on the photo. I've used MME papers and Prima flowers, the rest is bits from my stash.

I mentioned a few days back that I had been asked to join Squiggle Stamps Design Team by the lovely Tracy. There is now a dedicated blog and you can see who else has been chosen to join the team......... a fantastically talented bunch of gals me thinks and I will enjoy getting to know them all. Squiggle Stamps are a small UK based stamp company launched in Summer 2009, and carry a unique range of cute and whimsical stamps designed by a talented team of illustrators. There will be an official launch on September 1st when there will be new designs to feast your eyes upon and a candy giveaway. I can't wait for my first DT pack to drop on the doormat (hopefully later today) so I can set to work and show you some of the lovely images soon to be available ;o) Don't forget to become a follower of the blog so you don't miss the launch party!

Well the upshot of being off work and having time to craft is that my stash is now in a right state, so I'm off to have a mega tidy up and then I'll be back to catch up in blogland.

Toodles for now and have a lovely day!

Hugs Tara xx

Basic Grey DT card.......

Evening peeps!

Here is my DT card for this week's Basic Grey Challenge. I purposely held back from posting this yesterday as I had sent the card with some images to my lovely teamie Chris and wanted to make sure she's received it........ but thinking about it now that was daft because she would have seen it on the challenge blog yesterday anyway, doh! A blonde moment me thinks, lol!!

There was an amazing response to our first challenge last week and so many amazing entries. Hopefully you'll enjoy this week's theme just as much..... we have a colour combo for you -

My teamies have all made beautiful cards again and used a gorgeous selection of Basic Grey papers. For my card I used one of Chris's beautiful digi-images which you can find here. They are so beautiful to work with and you can take elements from the designs and play with them - in this case I printed an extra flower and layered it onto the vase. I must apologise for the shocking pink you see in the piccie, it really isn't that bright IRL but sometimes the light plays havoc. I was going to take another photo this morning but of course I've posted the card to Chris...... another blonde moment, lol!! So put on your shades and you'll be fine ;o)

Before I go I just wanted to show you this elegant lady....... isn't she a beauty?! This is my Nan, she is my only remaining grandparent and she turned ninety yesterday! Yes ninety!!!!! I hope there's something in the genes because if I look this good at ninety I'll be a very happy person. We took her out last night for a meal and when the cake was brought in the whole restaurant joined in to sing happy birthday......... and guess who was sniffling..... MOI!!! Such a lightweight I am! Happy Birthday Nan!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you've had a lovely weekened ;o)

Big hugs, Tara xx

Cute Card Thursday # 74 - Lazy Dayz.....

Hiya peeps!

What a great name for a challenge this week over at Cute Card Thursday and I knew exactly the image I wanted to use. I am so in love with the designs created by Mo at her Digital Pencil Too site....... they are just fab and I now have lots of yummy images sat waiting to be coloured! This little beauty sums up lazy days perfectly, sat whistfully daydreaming in the breeze. What I like about using digital images is that sometimes you can make them quite large, so that all the attention is given to the content and not much else is needed. Even someone like me who loves to pile on the embellies has to hold back sometimes, lol!

I'm not sure where this backing papers is from as I was using up scraps, but I think it's very pretty all the same and the colours are really summery. All the other bits and bobs are from my stash and the sentiment was created on the PC........ please don't look too closely, I know it's a bit wonky. Well I must have been having a bit of a wonky day today but I don't care....... it's been fun!!!

I'm looking forward to having a blog hop now to see what you've all created and I'll be back tomorrow with my DT card for the lovely Basic Grey challenge...... be sure to check it out won't you - I've had a sneaky peek and this weeks cards are stunning!

Have a great weekend........ hugs Tara xx

ABC Challenge - 'B' is for Buttons....

Good morning to you all!

I'm very excited to show you this card as i think this adorable little image is just the cutest!! She's called Daisy with Balloon and is available right now over at Squiggle Stamps. Tracy has the cutest selection of stamps over there and more designs are due very soon, so hop over and have a nosy. The little cutie I've used on my card was just perfect for paper piecing as you can see and I used up some scraps of Kay&Co paper I've had lying around for ages..... good when you do that me thinks!

Well I also have some exciting news to share....... Tracy has asked me to become part of her Design Team for Squiggle Stamps so you'll be seeing lots more cute stuff from me that's for sure, I'm over the moon! She is also in the process of setting up a new blog and will shortly be having a Design Team call, so I'll let you know more as soon as I can.

I'm entering this card into the ABC Challenge where 'B' is for buttons this week, nice and easy heh?

Must dash right now for an appointment but I'll be back shortly to see what everyone's been up to so far today.

Toodles for now....... xxx

Just Magnolia meets Colour Create

Good morning everyone!

I hope the sun is shining for you today - apparently we're in for a hot one today! Here is my card for both Just Magnolia where the theme is friendship and Colour Create where this week's colours are Blue, Black, Sand and Silver. One tiny confession to make - I forgot the silver....... doh! And it's too late to add any now because I've sent it to a friend already. I did use all the other colours and managed to incorporate the seaside option too so I hope I'm forgiven!

I've used a mixture of papers on my card - October Afternoon and Kay&Co along with some Coredinations card which I embossed and sanded. This Tilda from the new Summer Kit has been coloured with Copics and I added some pearly paints to the water for a bit of shimmer, although this doesn't really show up on the photo. I used a Melissa Frances transfer for my sentiment and some Bazzill Just the Edge strips around the image....... the rest is from my stash.

Well enjoy your day folks - not sure what we're up to yet so I think I'll start a card while I decide!

Basic Grey # 1 - A Sketch by Tara G

Better late than never, here is my DT card for the relaunch of the Basic Grey Challenge. As many of you already know I've been having major PC problems and so haven't been blogging much. We resorted in the end to wiping the computer clean (eeeeeeek, it was so scary) and have now recovered most of the stuff, although we've lost Outlook and Word and one or two other applications. I have a new Google Mail email addy now which you can find on my profile.

Anyway, back to my card! I have so enjoyed creating again for the BG challenge and working alongside all my lovely teamies. This has always been one of my fave challenges and I love BG papers to bits. For this card I've used the June Bug range and a cute little image sent to me by Katy. And what a wonderful sketch to work with so a big thanks to Tara G for that one!

I hope you can check out the challenge which now runs fornightly and there's some yummy candy which closes on 21st August plus a fab monthly prize to enter. Martine has done such a brilliant job with the new look blog and I know we're going to have oodles of fun!!

Before I go I would just like to thank Beth for this wonderful award which really made my day today! I would like to give it to everyone who stops by this week and leaves a comment, you are all such lovely friends and your visits mean the world to me ;o)

I'm taking the kids out for an hour or two now........ they didn't even get dressed yesterday so I thought we'd best make an effort today, lol!

Greetings Farm Wedding Card........

How naughty am I?! We're all off together today and are planning a trip to Cheshire Oaks. Hubster needs some new trousers for a wedding we're going to on Saturday. Anyway, he's just popped out to drop something off at work so I've sneaked onto his precious laptop to post another card, hee hee! Better make it snappy as he'll be back in a flash!

This is the card I made for the wedding - one of the teachers at work is getting wed and I wanted to make something special because she always says such nice things about my cards. I used a Greetings Farm image very kindly sent to me by my lovely friend Laura and the papers are Basic Grey Bittersweet. I used a Sizzix die to create the flowers and coloured the image with Polys and Koh pencils.

Right I'm off........ best not get caught heh? Will catch up with you all later when we get back from our shopping trip. Have a great day whatever you're doing and I hope the sun shines for you all ;o)

Birthday card for a friend.......

Hiya folks!

Yaaaaaay! I'm managing to upload a card at long last!! We now have internet connection again after having troubles for best part of a week, but unfortunately I still have no access to Blogger or my Google account through the home PC. Dear hubster has kindly allowed me on his precious laptop to upload this card today - looks like I'll have to do major grovelling to get this privilege, lol!

I made this card for my matey Katy, for her birthday this Monday just gone and thought I'd go for something cheery and bright instead of the usual flowery. I had great fun with the fab Alota image sent to me by the lovely Chris and used papers from the yummy Basic Grey Lime Rickey range.

Sorry the post is short tonight but I'm being timed on the laptop......... yes really!!! He had it as a 40th pressie from his Mum and Dad because I was always hogging our pc, so he's feeling a bit of deja vue, hee hee!

I'll be back after tea for a long overdue blog hop - it's great to be back ;o)

Arghhhhhhhhhh!

Hiya folks!

I'm back from my hols and we had a wonderful time - thank you all for your lovely wishes ;o)

I'm tearing my hair out just now as I'm having major problems with my PC. I'm typing this from work just now. Up until this morning I've been able to access my blog but cannot sign in to the page where dashboard, etc is displayed and blogs which I'm following. So I can't amend my blog or add any post or view any of the blogs I follow, plus I can't comment on anyone's work because I also can't sign in via Google Accounts. Whenever I try to access the blogger.com site or google's sign in page I just get the standard 'internet cannot find this page' format. Arghhhhhhhh! I don't know what to do!!! Then to cap it all, as from this morning I now can't access my emails or even connect to the internet at all!!!

So I just want to let you know that I have got cards to show you but I can't load them and I am looking at all your lovely work but can't leave comments (don't want to get the sack by keep doing it at work, lol)!! I'm off to visit the computer teccies upstairs in a min to see if they have any ideas!

I'll let you know when I get things sorted - I'm sooooooooo fed up with it all ;o(

Toodles for now, Tara xxxxx
