Basic Grey # 30 - Paper Piecing

Welcome to the Basic Grey Challenge on this beautiful, sunny, Spring morning. YAY, I love this week's theme of Paper Piecing as it's one of my fave techniques. The girls have all come up with some incredible cards which really show off the beauty of Basic Grey papers, so do hop over and take a peek. There is also a fab prize on offer this week, in fact I'd quite like to win it myself but unfortunately DT members aren't allowed :o( Oh well, someone will be lucky, but you've got to be in it to win it!!

I didn't start out with the intention of creating something along the 50's kitsch theme but I think that's how my card turned out! The Rubber Romance image reminds me somehow of a pop art picture, do you know what I mean? Anyway, I got to use my ric rac ribbon stamp which always seems to add a nice effect. I paper pierced the present and the girl's skirt with Cupcake papers - these really are bright and fun.

Materials:
Image - Rubber Romance
Sentiment - Studio G
Papers - Basic Grey Cupcake
Embossing - Cuttlebug Birthday Folder
Colouring - Copics
Flowers - Prima
Embellishments - Brads and Gems from my stash

Well I have a busy day ahead - hubster is the big 4 0 today! He's working until mid afternoon so me and the kids are decorating the house and fetching his pressies from his mum's house, where they've been hidden away. Tonight we're going out for a curry and then tomorrow we're having a family party. He doesn't like surprises so he knows about the get together, but his pressie is a big surprise.

Catch you all later ;o)

I think you have done the pop art feel very well. The embossing looks striking and the image is great. I hope you have fab day with hubbie and he enjoys all his pressies. I will let you know when I hear from Jo..which candy she has picked for you! By the way do you have any of the home Grown or new Elisabeth Bells from SN?? I don't want to duplicate any you have. let me know and I'll make sure you get one's you don't have!

I'm glad you and Jo won!!

Hi Tara - love it - a very 50's retro look. You're right it does remind one of a pop art style picture or advert. Love that image - she really cries out to be pieced and you've done it fantastically.

Hope you have a great meal and a fabulous party - why didn't you tell me I could have made him a card. Happy birthday from me to him.
hugs Heather xx

Wonderful layout and the cupcake papers are perfect for retro. Hope Chris had a great 40th Birthday and liked his pressie, can't wait to find out what you got him.
