A card for Julie's Blog Candy!

I noticed yesterday that Julie is giving away some yummy candy to celebrate her first year of blogging and has set a card challenge for us all. How fast time flies Julie, well done for passing the first year milestone - you have the most amazing blog and your cards have inspired me on many occasions!

To be in with the chance of winning the candy, here are the details of Julie's mini challenge in her own words:

All you have to do to be in with a chance to win is make an elegant card that includes a flower you made yourself. I've asked my crafty but non cardmaking friend Teresa to judge the entries. The deadline for entering is Saturday 7 March. To make it easy for her to see your entry please put it in a post by itself and add a link directly to the post not just to your blog. Will mail anywhere so you don't need to be in the UK to enter. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Well I couldn't resist this one as I am flower mad and I jump at making anything with a spring theme at the moment so daisies came to mind. This is a little bit different from my normal style but then different is good right? And I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed creating this one. I used a scrap of paper from the Paper Adventures range as it had tiny daisies on it. For the flower I created my own petal templates in two sizes and then drew round them and cut them out several times. I embossed the larger petals with the Swiss Dots folder and the smaller petals with the Leaves folder, then I chalked the edges with shimmer chalks. For the centrepiece I cut out flowers with my new Woodware punches in two sizes and then drew in a stamen with a pink gel pen, adding tiny pink pearls to the ends. The leaves behind the flower were made using my trusty Sizzix leaf die, I hope this never breaks as I really would feel lost without it! Finally, I stamped out the little butterfly from my See D's 'Cute as a Bug' set and added the lemon colour with my ProMarkers.

Materials:
Sentiment - Studio G
Butterfly - See D's
Papers - Paper Adventure
Punch - Woodware
Die - Sizzix Leaves
Embossing - Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Leaves
Chalks - Dovecraft
Colouring - ProMarkers
Embellishments - Pearls and Brads from my stash

Phew! Sorry for waffling on about this one but I thought you might have wondered what I did to create the flower. This was a great idea for a challenge Julie, thanks.

Hope you have all had a nice day? Mine was sweet as I had a rather nice delivery of some rather Gorjuss stamps today!!!

Wow Tara, this this is fantastic, well done you drawing your own petals, I wouldn't even attempt it, they wouldn't have looked like petals at all. The colours are so fresh and spring like. Love it, you would be a very worthy winner.x
